Hebrews 11:4 ~ By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
In Genesis 3 we see the root of sin; Satan entered the garden, tempted and deceived Eve, but, as the Bible tells us, Adam willingly partook of the fruit, and man fell out of a relationship with God. In chapter 4 of Genesis, we see the fruit of sin. Cain did not have genuine faith in God, though he saw God and talked to God, he did not have faith “in God”. Therefore, Cain was unable to truly worship God as he ought to.
We are told that Abel truly worshiped God. In the 4th Chapter of Genesis verses 1-5 we see that Cain was unbelieving. In verses 5-7 we see that Cain was unrepentant in what he had done. God offered him a second chance. He said, “If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted?” God offered him another chance to do the right thing the right way, but he chose not to. In verses 8-10 we see that he was ungodly when he rose up and murdered his own brother.
But we are told that Abel truly worshiped God. By faith Abel offered up a more excellent sacrifice. God testified of this. Abel had a faith that worshiped. We must have faith “in God” if we are going to truly worship the Lord. If we are going to worship God, we must worship Him in spirit and in truth. The truth is in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is only through Him that we can truly worship God.
An unrepentant, unsaved person cannot worship God as they ought to. Without faith it is impossible to please Him (Heb 11:6). You can only come to God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus told us that He is The Way, The Truth, and The Life. He is not A Way, A Truth, or A Life; He is Genuine. We must worship God in Spirit and Truth because God is a Spirit.
Many people think that because they come to church on Sunday morning that they have worshiped God. Some have, but some have not. Just because we come into a Sunday School class, just because we sing a few songs on Sunday morning, just because we hear a little bit of preaching, does NOT mean that we have truly worshiped God.
There is a lot more to worship than just coming to church on Sunday morning. Worship comes from the heart and true worship can only come from a heart of faith. God has given unto every person the measure of faith (Rom 12:3). What we do with that faith will determine what kind of life we have now and determine our eternal destiny. Putting our faith in the Lord Jesus is the beginning of truly worshiping God. Who or what you worship is evidenced by the life you live, because God is worshiped through the lives of HIS people. So, what is it to have a faith that worships?
To have a faith that worships we must first understand the source of worship. Able came to God by faith; our faith is the source of our worship. What is our faith based on? Our faith is based upon the Word of God. It is guided by the Word of God. It is in response to the revelation of the Word of God. It is a matter of faith if we are ever going to truly worship.
We believe what the Bible says about God. That He is the creator of all living. There is no other. Scientists have tried to be creators in laboratories, but they cannot create life. They have tried over and over again to create life, but it cannot be done. Life must come from life and the only way to get life is from the One who is truly living and truly alive, and that is the Lord our God. It did not happen by a lightning bolt striking a puddle of water and bringing something to life. That theory is utterly and absolutely impossible.
True science has refuted that theory and yet they still put it in the textbooks and teach it to kids in public schools. Life started in the beginning with God when He created the Heaven and the Earth. When He created all that is living. Plant life, animal life, the life of those that fly in the air, the life of those that swim in the sea, the life of mankind, was all created by God himself. There is no other way to have life. This is the One we worship. He is the True Creator of all that is Living. We come to Him through Christ and worship Him as our Creator, our God, our Heavenly Father.
How is your worship? Do you truly worship when you go to church? Does your faith cause you to live a life of worship? Have faith “in God” and trust the truthfulness of His eternal Word. Love the Lord with unconditional sacrificial love as He has loved you, and your worship will show forth in the way you live. You will live a life that glorifies and worships the Lord.
